SHEPHERD BONES
All the way from the Greek island of Crete, Shepherd Bones (aka David Mourato) made the journey to Joshua Tree to record his debut EP here at Gatos Trail. It was a pleasure to get acquainted with these haunting tunes and to go from demo to record in one week. We tracked Drums, Guitars, Bass, Keys and Vocals as well as mixed and mastered 5 songs in 7 days. The results are a fresh blend of Indie, Gothic and Folk, landing somewhere between Pete Yorn and Peter Murphy. Having someone from so far away come out and really appreciate the inspiring and beautiful surroundings of the California’s High Desert, in particular the areas surrounding Joshua Tree (Landers, Pioneer Town and Yucca Valley) where Gatos Trail is located is truly a joy. This Shepherd Bones record is a true reflection of “Desert Magic” through the fresh lens of a new comer and I look forward to it’s official release.
